On the Seventh Day

An elongation of her fractured spine
blew drifting in the weathered columbines.
In haste she scattered nail and tooth and flesh
Relentless were the chorusing egress
Equivocation wrought in spider's web
As serpent slithers and façades her fib
In her the vapid sounding of the wind
Excites my root-canal-insipid grin
I dally in her squandered heart impious
Shriek tendrils of disdain for her defiance
When eventide rolls in the grassy knoll
I sigh in resignation for her soul
